The Long Beach Chapter (Susan B. Anthony) of the Daughters of American Revolution recently held a ceremony for its annual essay contest for local 5th-, 6th-, 7th- and 8th-graders.  This year’s winning 5th-grade essay was “The Transcontinental Railroad:  The Day the Golden Spike was Pounded In.”
