The Seal Beach Police Department arrested two suspects for vehicle burglary on Old Ranch Parkway on April 18.
The crime was reported at 11:45 a.m.
The caller said a suspect entered a white SUV and left in a gold Focus with paper license plates. (Yes, the suspects apparently chose a brightly colored getaway vehicle.)
The caller wasn’t sure if the man actually took anything from the car. The caller said the suspected car burglar was a passenger in the gold Focus.
The Focus reportedly ran the red light while turning from Old Ranch Parkway onto the southbound lane of Seal Beach Boulevard.
By 11:53 a.m., Seal Beach Police had detained two suspects in a vehicle that apparently matched the description of the gold Focus the caller had described. The log did not say if the suspects were in a gold Focus.
Police determined that the victim vehicle, an SUV, had a punched door lock. The log did not say which door.
The suspects were booked for burglary. Seal Beach Police Sgt. Steve Bowles identified the suspects as Elmer Estrada, born Feb. 18, 1980, and Alexis Miranda, born May 5, 1978.

Tuesday, April 17
Municipal Code Violation—6:35 a.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller said trucks were making deliveries before 7 a.m., in violation of the city code. Police unit 106 contacted the occupants of one delivery truck and spoke with the manager. They were advised against violating the city code and said they would comply.
Municipal Code Violation—6:54 a.m.—Main Street and Electric Avenue—The caller complained about a jackhammer that had been running since 6:40 a.m. The caller asked police to advise them not to start before 7 a.m. Police unit 107 determined the work crew had a city contract and a permit to start at 6 a.m.
Welfare Check—9:51 a.m.—Birchwood Avenue—The caller requested a welfare check on an elderly couple that lives at the location. The caller said 20 minutes earlier a black truck occupied by three men pulled into the driveway. The caller was concerned about past elder scams at the location. Police unit 106 determined the couple did not need police services at that time.
Extra Patrol Checks Requested—9:42 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller requested extra patrol checks during he night for vehicles parked in the lot to the rear of the business. The caller was concerned about vehicle burglaries.
Wednesday, April 18
Traffic Stop—3:18 a.m.—Old Ranch Parkway and Seal Beach Boulevard—The officer in police unit 206, while on service, observed a vehicle with fresh traffic collision damage coming off the freeway. The driver told the officer that he hit the cone pattern on the freeway. The crew working on northbound side of the 405 did not report any missing construction workers. They told dispatch they would call if they had any reports of anyone missing.
Vehicle Burglary—8:06 a.m.—15th Street—The crime apparently occurred between 1 and 7 a.m. Point of entry: smashed passenger side window. Loss: unknown. The interior was ransacked. Report taken.
Welfare Check—12:20 p.m.—Pacific Coast Highway—The caller said a woman in her 90s had been wandering around the store for the past four hours. The caller said she seemed confused. She was released to her son at 1 p.m.
Robbery—1:40 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller was with security at the location. The security guard confronted a shoplifting suspect outside the store. The suspect struggled with the security guard, turning the non-violent crime into a violent one and making the crime a robbery.
The suspect escaped. The stolen property was recovered. The suspect was last seen exiting the parking lot going southbound near the CVS. The suspect was described as a white man in his late 50s, with white hair, wearing a light blue polo shirt and plaid shorts.

Vehicle Burglary—9:19 a.m.—Old Ranch Parkway and Seal Beach Boulevard—The crime apparently occurred on Wednesday, April 18. Loss: work tools and a camera. Report taken.
Open Door—6:01 p.m.—Pacific Coast Highway—The caller said the location was out of business and the front door was open. The caller said she tried to secure the door, but was unable to do so. Dispatch reached an automatic phone tree and left a message on voicemail. Someone called back and said maintenance would respond to secure the business.
Friday, April 20
Dead Animal—9:41 a.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard and St. Cloud Drive—The caller reported the remains of a large cat or small dog in the number three southbound lane of St. Cloud. Referred to Long Beach Animal Care Services.
Disturbance, Skateboarder—9:15 p.m.—Seal Way—The caller said a man was skateboarding and slamming up on garages and planters right under the “No skateboarding” sign.
Saturday, April 21
Welfare Check—2:40 a.m.—First Street and Pacific Coast Highway—The caller said a man was on the ground, possibly drunk. A sober friend took care of the drunk individual.
Disturbance, Juvenile—10:51 a.m.—Avalon Drive—The caller said a group of about 10 juveniles in their early teens were shooting paintball guns at each other. Police unit 107 contacted the juveniles and advised them about the municipal code. The officer walked the group back to the home of the parents of one of the juveniles.
Burglary Report—12:510 p.m.—Fifth Street—The crime apparently occurred on Wednesday, April 18. However, the caller saw the suspect just prior to making the call. Loss: an iPod, a laptop computer and a PSP all collectively valued at $1,000. Report taken.
Disturbance, Juveniles—2:11 p.m.—Balboa Drive—The caller said juveniles were sitting on a wall outside a residence, shooting pellets at passing vehicles. Police unit 107 contacted a group of juveniles who checked out OK. They suggested police check another group of juveniles in the area. Police unit 107 was unable to locate the group of minors allegedly shooting pellets.
Sunday, April 22
Disturbance, Music—8:36 a.m.—10th Street—The caller said a neighbor was playing loud music in the alley while cleaning his garage. The caller said this was an on-going problem. Police unit 107 was unable to locate anyone playing loud music.
Theft—9:29 a.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The crime apparently occurred Saturday, April 21, at about 4 p.m. Two real estate signs were taken from the parking lot. The signs were valued at $100 to $200 in all. No suspect information. No report desired. Log entry.
Vehicle Code Violation—12:31 a.m.—Hazelnut Avenue—The caller said a driver cut her off and almost made her crash. The other vehicle hit the curb afterward. The caller said the driver appeared to be 10 years old. According to the log, a 12-year-old child and mom were counselled. Report taken.

Friday, April 13
Drugs Reported—8:16 a.m.—Los Alamitos Boulevard—The caller reported seeing two men in a small silver car possibly smoking marijuana through a pipe. The car was backed up by the dumpster in the rear of the location, but left, pulling out on to Farquhar. The caller reported seeing the driver smoking. The passenger was coughing but was not seen smoking.
Disturbance—4:58 p.m.—Bloomfield Street—The caller said a taxi cab driver just urinated outside the caller’s door. The taxi was still there at the time of the call and the driver was wearing a blue shirt and blue jacket. The driver was counseled against urinating in public and indecent exposure, but checked out OK.

Drugs Reported–8:26 p.m.—Green Avenue—The caller reported the smell of marijuana and said that it could be smelled throughout the complex. Police found that residents were burning incense and checked out OK.
Wednesday, April 18
Suspicious Person—6:06 a.m.—Katella Avenue—The Caller said a man wearing a dark jumper was walking around the pool area. The caller thought he looked suspicious. The subject checked out OK and had just locked himself out of his apartment.
Altercation—9:12 p.m.—Cerritos and Los Alamitos—Dispatch answered the call only to hear the caller yelling at someone and not talking to the dispatcher. The other person was possibly trying to leave the scene of an accident. The caller was in a collision between a black Toyota Camry and a PT Cruiser. The caller hung up on dispatch while he was still yelling at the other person. Patrol assisted in the exchange of information.

Disturbance—8:38 a.m.—Blume Drive—A man and a woman, described as a young couple, had an argument in a parking lot.
Suspicious Person or Circumstances—8:35 a.m.—Gertrude Drive and Argyle Drive—The caller said a man paced back and forth down the street, grabbed his crotch, yelled and threw something at a passing car. The suspect was described as a black man, 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 250 pounds, wearing all black clothing.
Found Property—9:28 a.m.—Harrisburg Road—The caller said her husband found some marijuana in a small container while walking his dog.
Suspicious Person or Circumstances—9:42 a.m.—Copa De Oro Drive—The caller said five men were working on the house across the street. The caller said they seemed to the caller to be casing the houses in the area as well. An Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputy confirmed the men were working on the house.
Citizen Assist—1:28 p.m.—Foster Road—The school reported an incident that apparently occurred on Monday, April 23. A car drove up to a student and a young woman pointed at her and threatened to kill the student.
Suspicious Person in Vehicle—4:17 p.m.—Tigertail Drive and Silver Fox Road—A car parked in front of the caller’s residence drove off when the caller approached.

Burglary Report—7:38 a.m.—Montecito Road—The call was about the burglary of a storage area by the car port.
Suspicious Person in Vehicle—8:09 a.m.—Martha Ann Drive—The car had been parked for 30 to 40 minutes and the caller said it was unknown to the area.
Suspicious Person or Circumstances—7:37 p.m.—Martha Ann Drive and Kempton Drive—The caller requested a patrol check for a possible transient loitering in the area.
Thursday, April 26
Fraud Report—7:44 a.m.—Walker Lee Drive.
Suspicious Person in Vehicle—12:43 p.m.—Bradbury Road—The caller said a man in a white electrical van parked in front of different residences on the street. The caller thought this was suspicious. The caller was no longer present.
Keep the Peace—4:04 p.m.—Kensington Road—The caller requested the presence of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department while she attempted to collect money owed her from a neighbor. She and a deputy apparently walked over to the neighbor’s home. She was advised to leave the property. Civil dispute.
Suspicious Person or Circumstances—5:02 p.m.—Kempton Drive—The caller said a suspicious individual went into the back yard.
Friday, April 27
Burglary—10:29 a.m.—The resident’s mother called the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. The caller said her son would call them later if he found evidence of loss or a crime. The burglary apparently occurred within the previous hour. The caller found the front door and back window opened. The caller needed a deputy to walk through the property.
Welfare Check—11:15 a.m.—Donnis Road and Hedwig Road—The caller was in the park on the west side, near the tennis court. The caller asked for a deputy to check on the well-being of an individual who the caller described as homeless and possibly sleeping.
Abandoned Vehicle—10:16 a.m.—Foster Road.
Burglary Report—4:47 p.m.—Ruth Elaine Drive—The log did not say if this was a residential or vehicle burglary.
