Council candidate announces District 4 run

At a campaign kickoff hosted by Old Ranch Country Club last Thursday, Gina Phillips announced her intent to run for the open District Four seat on the Seal Beach City Council. Phillips is the first person to declare themselves a candidate in the local 2016 election.

More than 100 voters and supporters attended the reception. Current District Four Councilman Gary Miller completes his second four-year term this year. District Two Councilman David Sloan has also termed out.

“I would like to bring Uptown Seal Beach to the forefront and invite the other areas of the city to see what we have to offer,” she said. “I think sometimes people forget that we’re still Seal Beach.”

Phillips currently serves on the Board of the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce and is also one of the directors on the Seal Beach Police Foundation board.

Phillips has already launched a campaign website. Only one sitting Seal Beach council member has a website, District One represenative and Old Town resident Ellery Deaton.
