Jane Kreidler of the Contractors State License Board will tell Rossmoor homeowners how they can protect themselves when planning a home remodel at the Thursday, Feb. 21 meeting of the Rossmoor Homeowners Association.
The issues to be discussed, will include licensing regulations, bonding, insurance, and permits.
The RHA meeting will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, at Rush Park Auditorium, 3021 Blume Dr.
The meeting will include a question and answer period.
The CSLB Public Affairs Office is contacting homeowners associations in areas where they have received numerous calls regarding unlicensed contractors.
The CSLB’s job is to protect consumers by licensing and regulating California’s construction industry. There are 300,000 licensed contractors in the state, in 43 different licensing classifications.
The CSLB operates under the umbrella of the California Department of Consumer Affairs.
In addition to educating consumers about contractors and construction law, CSLB activities include administering examinations to test prospective licensees, issuing licenses, investigating complaints against licensed and unlicensed contractors, issuing citations, suspending or revoking licenses, and seeking administrative, criminal, and civil sanctions against violators.
