Coach John Barnes, the head football coach at Los Alamitos High School, will be inducted into the California High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Coach Barnes will be inducted on June 15 at their annual banquet in Fresno, California. Coach John Barnes is currently 4th in state history with 301 victories, 2nd in Southern Section history, and 1st in Orange County history.
This is a very prestigious honor, as very few coaches ever receive this level of recognition. Los Alamitos Unified School District Superintendent Sherry Kropp, had this to say, “More important and note worthy than all of his victories, is the manner in which he has helped to shape the future of thousands of young men.
Many have gone on to play professional sports, and all have gone on to be better citizens and human beings because of his influence. Coach Barnes, who coined the phrase, Griffin Pride, is a shining example of what it means to embody the spirit of excellence so evident in his program. The entire Los Alamitos Unified School District is proud of Coach John Barnes and all of his accomplishments.”
