On Friday, Oct. 5, the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce will again host a Candidate Forum at the Marina Community Center in Seal Beach (151 Marina Dr.). The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the event will begin at 6:15 p.m. The event is admission free and open to the public. The Chamber has invited all candidates in the following races to participate in the Candidate Forum: State Senate District 34, State Assembly District 72, and Seal Beach City Council District One. Mayor Mike Varipapa of District Three and Councilmember Sandra Massa-Lavitt of District Five are are running unopposed for reelection. Representatives will also be present to discuss Measure G (Los Alamitos Unified school facilities bond) and Measure BB (Seal Beach sales tax increase).
Diane Thompson of the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce’s Governmental Affairs Committee, will moderate the event. Candidates will not be provided with the questions ahead of the event. The forum will include opening and closing statements, forced response questions and open-ended questions.
Chamber Board Member and Chair of the Governmental Affairs committee Jeffrey Blancq says, “The goal of the Candidate Forum is to provide voters with information in a very professional, structured format. ”
