Caltrans says the Record of Final Decision on the I-405 freeway expansion project, a federal document, is available. The document, which was signed by the Caltrans Region 12 director on May 15, declared the toll road option the preferred option for the project. Despite strong opposition from public officials and residents in Orange County, Caltrans officials have selected Alternative 3, which would add one general-purpose lane and a toll lane in each direction on the freeway.

Seal Beach Councilman Gary Miller said Caltrans is expected to sign the state-mandated Notice of Determination on the project next month.
