Buffaloes learn to give on and off the field

Members of the Fall 2011 FNL Colorado Buffaloes, a collection of K, 1st and 2nd grader’s from throughout Naples, Belmont Shore and greater Long Beach, capped off their unique season-long fundraising effort by presenting a donation for over $4,400 to Miller Children’s Hospital.

The Buffaloes participated in the campaign “Touchdown’s for Treatment” through the non-profit charitable organization LOVE of the GAME, raising sponsored pledges for every touchdown they amassed throughout the Fall season.

As they made a strong run all the way to the Championship Game, their touchdown count reached an impressive total of 47.

LOVE of the GAME was founded by Lance and Robin Sabella and their son Logan.

The idea behind the charitable arm immediately appealed to the Buffaloes Head Coach Kurt Ehmann and Assistant Coach Todd Eckenrode, friends of the Sabellas.

Looking to introduce their own sons and teammates to the concepts of compassion for others, giving back to those in need, and making an impact in their community, they signed the Buffaloes up and started marching the kids toward the end zone.

The coaches chose Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach as it was a perfect fit to their goal of helping those most in need.  The Buffalo players rallied behind the idea of helping other kids who were facing far more difficult hurdles than they, too sick or unable to participate in youth sports as they were, helping them conquer their illness and getting them back on the field someday.

The kids presented their checks to Brett Beck at Miller. Renae Furlow then led them on a short tour to give them a feeling for the incredible value in the work being done there and the importance of their gift.

The Buffaloes team consists of Jake Ehmann (8), Owen Ehmann (6), Jack Eckenrode (7), Dallas Cooper (8), Charlie Royle (8), Ryan Burrack (7), Brodie Inglis (6) and Tyler Haq (7).

LOVE of the GAME was founded to partner with and contribute to worthy charities and organizations through youth athletics.  Kids are empowered to raise money through sponsorships for exemplary performance in their respective sport.

By connecting leadership skills, athletic performance, and philanthropy, LOVE of the GAME aims to support organizations and initiatives that better our communities.  Website:  www.loveofthegamecorp.com.
