Someone broke into four class rooms at McGaugh Elementary this past weekend, according to a recent statement issued by Principal Roni Ellis.
Classrooms 14, 15, 16 and 17 were struck, according to Ellis.
“Windows were broken to gain access; teacher desk areas were rummaged through, shelves emptied, and a few cabinets gone through. Besides a single laptop, nothing major was taken and no one was harmed,” Ellis wrote.
“Seal Beach PD has been diligent in their investigation and in collecting evidence. They were here all day on Saturday along with the Orange County Crime lab. It appears to be the job of a single person, a transient, who was probably looking for cash and food. The SBPD is confident that they will apprehend the suspect,” Ellis wrote.
“For the past four weeks, we have had contractors on campus who are in the process of installing the cabling, electrical, etc. for security cameras. We expect the cameras to be installed and in working order very soon,” Ellis wrote.
