Faith and compassion motivates Blue Moon Boutique owner, Patti Blake, to continue giving back to not only charities in Orange and Los Angeles Counties but also far beyond since opening their doors in 2012. Their “Charity of the Month” for September is The Youth Center, where 10 percent of all sales will go to the award-winning nonprofit.
“We could not do what we do without the support of our wonderful customers,” said Blake. “I am grateful that the community supports us.”
“My motivation for helping children and others in our community stems first from having strong faith, and being raised by very compassionate parents that taught me to be kind and giving to those in need,” said Blake who spent nearly 10 years volunteering with We Care of Los Alamitos, having first-hand seen the needs of others locally.
To date, Blue Moon Boutique has donated more than $183,000, thanks to the generous shoppers who support them and who know their shopping dollars are helping others. For a third time, they’ve had The Youth Center as their monthly charity, donating a total of $6,750 since 2013. It is Blue Moon Boutique’s mission to exist as a philanthropic, community-based small business that sells clothing, jewelry, and novelties to benefit charities and causes throughout the local community and the world.
“Our passion is equally shared in finding uniquely beautiful and interesting products, as it is for the charities we support,” explained Blake. “?Blue Moon is a gathering place for people interested in coming together for friendship, fun, and fashion as well as helping others in the community and beyond.”
Over the years, Blue Moon Boutique has donated not only to The Youth Center but also to other charities including Grateful Hearts in Los Alamitos, the California Fire Relief fund, the Ronald McDonald House in Long Beach, Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), the Autism Partnership Foundation of Seal Beach, Breast Cancer Angels of Cypress, the Seal Beach Animal Care Center, the Epilepsy Support Network of Orange County, the American Heart Association of Long Beach, Alzheimer’s of Orange County, and to the Sunburst Youth Challenge Academy in Los Alamitos, to name a few.
“We are so very grateful to Blue Moon Boutique for their faithful support over the years,” said Youth Center Executive Director Lina Lumme. “With their support we are directly impacting the lives of local children, truly making a difference.”
