Be a part of the Veterans Voices stories

Bill Thomas

The “Veterans Voices” column is generally about a Military Veteran’s brief story in four parts;

1. As a youth in his or her earliest years,

2. Participation in Military Sevice,

3. Return to civilian life, family, occupations;

4. As a veteran, honorably discharged, or retired.

Current activities, employment, family events, hobbies, etc.

As a columnist, operating from a wheelchair, I find it difficult to visit Veterans for personal interviews. It is also “difficult” to find enough Veterans (male or female) to come forth to tell their stories for this column. “Everyone has a story to tell.”

If you are a military Veteran, or are related to one, or know of a Veteran, you are invited to send in a story. (Guideline sheets are available from me. See below.)

It is quite apparent there are many thousands of ‘new” Veterans who have returned, and/or are returning from recent wars, who are trying to resettle into civilian life.

As a Public Service, future issues of this column will include pertinent information to inform Veterans of present or forthcoming Job Fairs with listings of employment opportunities.

As one example, there is a veterans resource center to be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

It is located at 1100 Technology Circle in Anaheim, California. Phone: 714-635-6585.

There is free parking. Admission is ree.

Bring copies of your Resume and/or copies of your DD 214.

Wear clothing appropriate for job interviews.

Available will be • one-on-one interviews with potential employers,

• Conditional employment offers,

• Funding resources,

• Assistance in developing an individual career path

California Career School partnering with O C Goodwill and other local resources, to help Veterans, family members, and friends to find employment and the training they need to be employed in industries such as Auto, Security, CNC, and truck driving.
