Bay Hardware rolls out new line of eco-friendly, top shelf paint

Diana Brunjes, manager and owner of Bay Hardware knew she had to find better paint. After nearly two years of being in Seal Beach, she was frustrated to be stuck with a paint which for years had been a standard, but now was behind the times.

Diana loved Benjamin Moore, the paint she had grown up with at Craftwood Lumber, her family’s original hardware store in Chicago. After some discussions with her family, they decided to move forward with an investment in paint.

Why should we care as a community? Because businesses that invest in bringing better product to Seal Beach helps keep Seal Beach dollars local.

“It would cost about $40,000 to bring in a new paint line, but our family has a vision of making Bay Hardware not just the local hardware store, but the exceptional hardware store too,” Diana said over lunch. “Having a major name brand like Benjamin Moore, which only sells to local, independent hardware stores, and a fixed competitive pricing structure hopefully will make it easy for people to think of Bay Hardware as their ‘go to’ shop for their next painting project.”

Benajamin Moore meets customers’ needs. Founded in 1883, the company has clearly been doing something right, as it says, “bringing the finest paints, stains, and finishes across North America.”

The first to bring VOC free paints to market, and an industry leader in color matching and tinting after 129 years of business, will soon be decking the walls of homes in our community.

There are three key lines that Bay Hardware currently offers: Concepts (good value for rentals), ben (a higher quality and better covering paint) and Regal (exceptional longevity and durability of color over time).

All are VOC compliant (meeting state regulations for chemical risks), water based, easy to clean up and paint and primer in one.

In addition, bringing in the new line would leave some old inventory looking for a new home – likely a local charity or non-profit.

Diana, a very active Seal Beach Lion, has confirmed that the Lions Club will be receiving some of the paint for various projects. She invites other non-profits who might be looking to get some paint as a donation to contact her at Bay Hardware or via email at Diana@bay-hardware.com

Finally to do even more for the community, Bay Hardware is going to give away free paint from their former line to individuals who cite this article, give their contact information and are willing to be contacted later for a survey and promotions.
