The annual outdoor menorah lighting in Seal Beach will be held on Sunday, Dec. 3, a few days before Chanukah, which starts on Dec. 7. The Jewish community expects hundreds to attend the event to show solidarity with Israel. The annual event at Eisenhower Park features a free outdoor concert and lighting of the 9-foot menorah.

“More than ever before, the menorah will spread the radiance of light, joy, and healing as it publicly proclaims Chanukah’s timeless message of light’s victory over darkness.” Rabbi Shmuel Marcus, director of the Chabad Jewish Center in Los Alamitos, says.

For over two decades, the Menorah at Seal Beach has brought the warmth and spirit of Chanukah to the young and old of our community. This year’s event will include prayers for Israel and a live musical performance by LA’s popular singer-songwriter Isaac Gordon.

Chanukah is the Jewish eight-day “festival of lights,” a symbol of light over darkness and the triumph of hope over despair. The community will be treated to the traditional Chanukah donuts, as they remind us of the miracle that happened with oil.

The event is free, open to the public, and paid for by Chabad (a local Jewish non-profit) and local sponsors. The event is held annually on the Sunday before Chanukah; this year, it will be held on Sunday, Dec. 3rd, at 5 pm.
