The Seal Beach City Council will consider appointments to city committees and commissions at the agency’s Monday, Jan. 14, meeting. A staff report by City Clerk Linda Devine has suggested the council consider dispanding the DWP Advisory Committee, which makes recommendations to the council concerning the land owned by Bay City Partners.
“Recreation Commission will recommend development to the open space with community in-put,” Devine wrote.
Seth Eaker, a member of the DWP Advisory Committee—the only committee member who voted in favor of allowing the Bay City Partner’s Ocean Place project to go forward—told the Sun on the record that the committee’s work was done. He said if something unforseen should happen, such as the California Coastal Commission denying a coastal development permit for the project—the council could reinstate the committee.
The Devine report suggested extending the term of the AdHoc General Plan/Local Coastal Program Citizens Advisory Committee to 2014 “to complete the Local Coastal Plan and Housing Element of the General Plan.”
The report also suggested the council discuss disbanding or extending the Salon Meritage Memorial Committee.
