Red Car Celebrating 42nd

The Seal Beach Historical and Cultural Society invites the public to come and celebrate the Red Car Museum’s 42nd Anniversary on Saturday at the facility next to the Mary Wilson Library on the greenbelt at 707 Electric Ave., in Seal Beach.

The museum is housed in a Pacific Electric tower car built in 1925 that served as a machine shop on the line that operated for nearly 50 years. It ran from Los Angeles, through Seal Beach and as far as Newport Beach. Today, the museum features exhibits of Seal Beach and Pacific Electric history and a gift shop of local history merchandise.

Saturday’s celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a book and DVD signing at 11 a.m. with five author members of the society and a presentation of the society’s Historical Man and Woman of the Year.

At 2 p.m. there will be a dedication and ribbon cutting for the new bench outside the museum donated by the society, followed by cake and refreshments.
