The Rossmoor Community Services District board swore in a new director on Tuesday, June 14.
Michael Maynard was appointed to the RCSD board during a special meeting on Tuesday, May 31. Ten Rossmoor residents submitted letters expressing an interest in replacing Director Shannon Hough, who resigned to move out of state. At the interview session, six individuals appeared to be interviewed for the job. Maynard was nominated to fill the vacancy and received three out of four votes from the board members.
Maynard was officially sworn in to the office of director of the Rossmoor Community Services District Board of Directors on June 14. Maynard assumed his new position and took his seat at the dais amid applause from a crowded auditorium.
“This is a fun time to be on the Board,” Michael Maynard laughed as he perused the agenda items. “I want to thank the Board for giving me the opportunity to serve this community. I love Rossmoor. I want to thank the citizens who came out tonight and expressed their opinions during the public hearing and I want to thank all of the residents for their spirit and dedication to Rossmoor. They love this community and it really shows.”
President Jeffrey Rips welcomed Maynard to the District. “I had a chance to speak with you earlier, Director Maynard, and I can see that you have a true passion and love for Rossmoor,” Rips said. “You believe in teaching, coaching and inspiring others; I look forward to seeing all that you have to offer.”
In other news, Director Alfred Coletta was elected to the office of first vice president, a vacancy created by Hough’s resignation.
