Monday, February 24

Welfare Check—10:30 a.m.—10th Street—The caller reported a German shepherd that had been left in a car for the past 40 minutes. The windows were cracked. Police unit 141 checked and determined no further police services were necessary.

Possible Municipal Code Violation—3:03 p.m.—Ocean Avenue—The caller said two men, described as elderly, were in the tot lot with a dog that was barking at the children as they played. The caller was concerned that the dog might bite a child. The caller also said there was a “no dogs allowed” sign. Assisted. The dog owner left.

Vehicle Burglary—5:19 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The crime took place sometime during the hour prior to the call to police. The caller used a bystander’s phone to report the crime. Point of entry: a smashed window. Loss: a bag containing a cell phone and other items. Report taken.

Suspicious Property—5:57 p.m.—Driftwood Avenue—The caller found a large black trash bag dumped in front of her home. It appeared to be full. The bag was tied off and she could not tell what was inside it. She did not know where the trash bag had come from. Police unit 207 determined that the trash bag contained discared construction materials. Police unit 206 threw the trash away.

Friday, February 14

Psychiatric Hold—6:15 p.m.—Katella Avenue—The caller reported that an individual who was voluntarily discharged from the hospital for heroin detoxification was getting argumentative with his parents in the parking lot. Staff and his parents need assistance getting him back inside. He was not violent. Patrol assisted. Parents took him home for the night.

Saturday, February 15

Disturbance, Family—1:16 p.m.—Howard Avenue—The caller reported a man and woman locked out of a residence. Another woman was inside the residence, yelling and breaking things. The caller said it had been going on for 30 minutes. The caller said police had been out at  residence before. Patrol counseled.

Sunday, February 16

Counseling—4:52 p.m.—Katella Avenue—An Alzheimer’s patient was discharged from psychiatric ward and dropped back off at the location by a family member. The patient takes medications and was picked up by a taxi and dropped off at Wardlow and Norwalk. The patient was supposed to be admitted to an Alzheimer’s care facility. A family member was contacted, but did not know the patient’s whereabouts. Report taken.

Wednesday, February 19

Reported Auto Theft—12:49 p.m.—Katella Avenue—The caller reported the theft of a black Honda Civic. The vehicle was parked on Cherry Street south of Florista along the east curbline. The car was later reported as repossessed.

Monday, February 24

Illegal Parked Vehicle—8:14 a.m.—Montecito Road—The caller said a vehicle was blocking the caller’s driveway.

Tuesday, February 25

Burglary Report—8:30 p.m.—Blume Drive—This was reportedly a residential burglary.

Suspicious Person in Vehicle—8:54 a.m.—Tigertail Drive—The caller said a vehicle occupied by one man had been present for the past two hours.

Wednesday, February 26

Suspicious Person or Circumstances—8:08 a.m.—Kensington Road—The caller said a woman parked a vehicle in front of Hopkinson Elementary and left a baby in a car seat while she quickly ran another child into the school. The baby was in the car seat for approximately one minute. The caller was concerned because the woman didn’t have a view of the vehicle while she did it. The caller wanted the incident investigated for any violation of law. The caller said the child did not appear to be in distress.

Welfare Check—11:36 a.m.—Woodstock Road—The caller said she just received a phone call from her daughter, who thought she had left a tea kettle on the stove with the stove on. Both mother and daughter were about 45 minutes away and requested a deputy see the property to see if the deputy could see anything.

Suspicious Person or Circumstances—2:26 p.m.—Silver Fox Road—The caller came to the door and told the caller’s maid that he was there to check the alarms and wanted to be let in. The maid refused. This occurred two hours prior to the call.

Annoying Phone Call—3:46 p.m.—Tigertail Drive—A citizen had received calls for the last three days from individuals claiming to be IRS agents and asking for family social security numbers.

Suspicious Person or Circumstances—9:27 p.m.—Montecito Road—A deputy performed a patrol check for three men wearing hooded sweatshirts and carrying back packs. They were loitering out in front of the residence across the street with a for sale sign. The caller thought the three men might be casing the area.

Thursday, February 27

Prowler—6:05 p.m.—Yellowtail Drive—The caller said a 14-year-old neighbor came over to report seeing a suspicious man in the caller’s backyard.

Friday, February 28

Suspicious Person or Circumstances—11:50 a.m.—Woodstock Road—The caller said a juvenile—the log did not specify the minor’s age—dressed all in black was going door-to-door, but was not carrying anything. The caller thought this was suspicious.

Saturday, March 1

Suspicious Person or Circumstances—1:45 p.m.—Oak Knoll Drive and Montecito Road.

Sunday, March 2

Suspicious Person or Circumstances—10:11 a.m.—Montecito Road and Main Way Drive.
