Tonight, Monday, April 14, The Seal Beach City Council will consider authorizing the mayor to sign a letter opposing a California Assembly resolution that opposes outsourcing.
A draft of the letter in the agenda package said “House Resolution 29 fails to recognize our City’s success and the need and desirability for cities like ours to contract with outside service providers. Instead, HR 29 appears to make Assembly Members pledge to adopt legislation prohibiting public agencies from “outsourcing” services.”
Seal Beach outsources fire services to the Orange County Fire Authority, legal services, police dispatch services and recreation classes. Other incorporated cities outsource their law enforcement services by hiring their counci sheriff’s department.
