Many Seal Beach residents know local artist Gino Dominic Nardo from his years of crafting colorful and bright paintings or unique beach themed photographs. But, this year he plans to showcase new one-of-a-kind home accents, crafted out of recycled Seal Beach Pier wood at the upcoming 37th Annual Seal Beach Arts and Crafts Faire.

Since 1977, Nardo has experimented with a variety of artistic mediums ranging from three dimensional pieces, ceramics and glass to photographs and woodworking. This playful artist has perfected his craft through years of experimentation that consistently produced distinctive works of art. When talking with Nardo or viewing his creations you will undoubtedly see his unique gift of artistic expression and instantly know that he loves what he does. He said, “To be able to create beautiful things from within is one of the most wonderful and fulfilling experiences of my life.”

Recently he sought out a new artistic adventure, delivering his creative vision with recycled Seal Beach Pier wood decking. His new creations include: tables, benches, shelves, mantels, candleholders, incense burners and picture frames and some frames even include his photographs! Nardo shared that, “So many people want a piece of Seal Beach’s history and the Seal Beach Pier.

“I am happy to offer these new personal home accessories. With next year being Seal Beach’s 100th Centennial Anniversary, for some it might just be the perfect time to own something sentimental.”

“This is a really exciting time of my life,” Nardo said.

During this past year he was commissioned to make items for local Seal Beach businesses including: The Hangout Restaurant, Beach City Jewelers and La Crema Café. He commented, “Not a day that goes by when I am not creating a piece of art or creating it in my mind.” He hopes that those who purchase his artwork will enjoy the items just as much as he has creating them.

You can view Nardo’s and others artists at next week’s 37th Annual Seal Beach Arts and Crafts Faire or visit his website at www.artbygino.com. Nardo’s booth will be located on the north side of the Seal Beach Pier adjacent to the Seal Beach Safety Community Building.

Come on down for a fun day viewing fine art and crafts on Saturday, September 6, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday Sept. 7, from 9 am to 5 pm at Eisenhower Park at the Pier in Old Town Seal Beach.
