Seal Beach Police Reserve Officer Dury Cords concluded his law enforcement career Saturday, April 25, with a final tour of duty at the 28th Annual Seal Beach Classic Car Show.
Cords is retiring after 37 years in law enforcement.
Police Chief Joe Stiliniovich congratulated Cords on social media last weekend. Cpl. Michael Henderson said Cords would be recognized at the May 11 City Council meeting.

Monday, April 13
Found Property—6:10 a.m.—Ocean Avenue—A citizen found an iPhone at the location. Report taken.
Snake—11:36 a.m.—Blue Heron—The caller reported a snake in the garage. Referred to Long Beach Animal Care Services.
Welfare Check—1:55 p.m.—Lampson Avenue and Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller contacted 911 to report an elderly man walking westbound on the curb of Lampson Avenue. The caller thought the man was putting himself in danger. The man was described as 80 and was wearing dark clothing. Police contacted the man and the facility where he lived. The staff said he probably shouldn’t be so far from the facility and asked the officer in unit 106 to bring him back. The officer took the senior home. Assisted.
Disturbance—3:50 p.m.—Pacific Coast Highway—The caller said a group of individuals who the caller apparently described as transients were hanging out under the bridge, consuming alcohol and harassing passers by. One of the individuals fled from police unit 107. At 4:30 p.m., the officer in unit 107 saw the man hiding in the bushes between First Street and Pacific Coast Highway. At 4:37 p.m., police unit 106 detained the man, who was interviewed in the field.
Tuesday, April 14
Traffic Stop—12:42 a.m.—Marina Drive and Pacific Coast Highway—An individual identified as Brett Toston was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and outstanding warrants.
Prowler—4:13 a.m.—Primrose Circle—A resident reported seeing a man in the rear yard prior to calling police, but no longer saw the man. At 4:20 a.m., the caller said a vehicle just left the neighborhood and was traveling eastbound on Lampson from Tulip. Dispatch had the resident come to the door. Police attempted to locate the registered owner of a suspicious vehicle that was parked and unlocked with personal belongings inside. Police checked the rear of another Primrose property. The side gate was ajar and a light went off. Police attempted to locate the resident of the second property, but that individual no longer lived there. Police checked the interior of the caller’s house. Police determined no further law enforcement services were necessary.
Vehicle Burglary—6:32 a.m.—17th Street—The theft apparently occurred between 8:30 p.m., Monday, April 13, and the time of the call to police. Point of entry: unknown. Loss: unknown. Report taken.
Hit and Run/Parked Vehicles—9:02 a.m.—Pacific Coast Highway—The caller said a woman hit two vehicles belonging to customers of the business, striking the side mirrors. Report taken.
Counseling—1:32 p.m.—Cottonwood—The caller said neighbors threw another item over their fence, something different from what had been thrown the previous day. Log entry.
Petty Theft Report—2:49 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller said someone took the caller’s oxygen tank that was attached to the caller’s power chair on Monday, April 13. Counseled. Log item issued.
Grand Theft Report—4:01 p.m.—Seal beach Bouelvard—The caller said that at about noon, two men came in and took $1,200 worth of accessories. One suspect wore a cast on his leg and the caller believed they used the cast to fill with the stolen items.
Wednesday, April 15
Welfare Check—7:37 a.m.—Ocean Avenue—The caller said someone might be sleeping in a sleeping bag on the beach, between the waterline and the houses. Police arrested an individual identified as William Neal on a warrant for suspicion of trespassing.
Auto Theft Report—8:13 a.m.—Candleberry Avenue—The caller reported the theft of a vehicle he was using while his was being repaired. The stolen vehicle was reported located in Cypress at 11 p.m. The vehicle was not wrecked, stripped or burned. No plates were missing. No suspects were in custody. The vehicle was released to the registered owner.
Suspicious Circumstances—6:19 p.m.—Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway—the caller reported seeing a man inside the trunk of a car. The vehicle was occupied by three individuals described as teenage males. The caller said the man in the trunk lifted the lid of the trunk and looked at the caller. The man in the truck was described as 19. The caller said he was on a cell phone. Police were unable to locate.
Suspicious Circumstances—9:04 p.m.—Coastline Drive—The caller reported two small green laser lights on the palm trees, coming from an unknown direction. Police contacted the caller.
Thursday, April 16
Disturbance—12:35 a.m.—Anchor Way and Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller said a man had been yelling and cursing for the past 15 minutes. The caller only heard the one voice, possibly the man talking to himself. Police unit 241 contacted the man. He had no identification and was described in the log as uncooperative. He was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication. He was later identified as Clifford E. Anderson.
Vehicle Burglary—8:04 a.m.—Sixth Street—Point of entry: a pushed down window. Loss: a 12 pack of toilet paper. The caller did not desire a report.
Petty Theft Report—8:42 a.m.—Pacific Coast Highway—The caller said a man took the caller’s scissors and refused to return them. By 9:07 a.m., the matter appeared to be solved. The suspect agreed to return the property. The caller would call back if he did not return the scissors.
Counseling—2:37 p.m.—Marble Cove Way—The caller wanted counseling regarding her neighbor spraying her dog with pepper spray the previous day.
Burglary Report—4:44 p.m.—Seventh Street—Point of entry: through a window. Loss: jewelry was the only known loss so far. Report taken.
Counseling—9:42 p.m.—Seal Way—The caller complained about a neighbor turning a stereo too loud and then leaving the house. The caller said this was an on-going issue and wanted the homeowner counseled about the noise.
Friday, April 17
Vehicle Burglary—9:50 a.m.—Emerald Cove Way—The crime occurred between 8 p.m., Thursday, April 16, and 6 am., Friday, April 17. Point of entry: unknown. Loss: unknown so far, but vehicle had been ransacked.
Grand Theft Report—1:55 a.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The crime apparently occurred on Wednesday, April 15. According to the caller, the theft was the work of repeat offenders. Loss: $1,000 worth of makeup. Report taken.
Disturbance, Juveniles—10:57 p.m.—Central Avenue and Main Street—The caller said four young adult men on skateboards were going up and down Central and in the alley between Main and 10th. Police unit 241 contacted the skateboarders. They were advised to stop making a disturbance and they said they would comply.
Saturday, April 18
Transient—12:20 a.m.—Seal Way—The caller said someone appeared to be sleeping on the caller’s patio furniture. Police arrested an individual identified as Edward Arciga on a no bail bench warrant for suspicion of burglary.
Group—1:40 a.m.—Fourth Street and Ocean Avenue—The caller said six or seven drunk individuals were talking loudly and throwing bottles. They were walking toward the beach. Police were unable to locate them.
Suspicious Person—6:28 p.m.—Lampson Avenue—The caller said there was an on-going problem with an individual who comes to the location to charge his phone. The caller said there are charging stations outside of the business that he uses. Police unit 206 advised the individual to stop and he said he would comply.
Stray Animals—6:38 p.m.—Fifth Street—The caller reported two stray pit bulls. The caller detained one and the other took off. Referred to Long Beach Animal Care Services.
Suspicious Circumstances—11:15 p.m.—Pacific Coast Highway and Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller said someone in a vehicle just shot something at the caller while the caller was at the bus stop. The weapon was not a real firearm, but might have been an airsoft gun. Police were unable to locate the suspicious vehicle.
Sunday, April 19
Animal Noise—9:41 a.m.—Fifth Street and Ocean Avenue—The caller said a dog tied to the volleyball court on the beach was barking. Referred to Long Beach Animal Care Services.
Municipal Code—10:36 a.m.—Ocean Avenue and Sixth Street—The caller said a man was going through recyclables in the alley between Sixth and Seventh streets.
Injured Animal—12:46 p.m.—Seal Way—The caller reported an injured dove in the caller’s back yard. Referred to Long Beach Animal Care Services.
Petty Theft Report—3:56 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller said someone took groceries from an unlocked vehicle while the caller ran into a shop for a drink. Report taken.
Found Property—5:12 p.m.—Seal Beach Bouelvard—A cash register was left in the parking lot behind the store. This apparently occurred in the last 15 to 20 minutes. There was no money in the register. Additional information about the incident was blacked out in the log. Report taken.

Illegal Peddler—6:45 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller said a woman with a toddler in a stroller was begging for money in the parking lot. The woman was gone when police arrived.
Coyote—11:59 p.m.—Island View and Sea Breeze—The caller reported seeing a coyote. Message delivered to Long Beach Animal Care Services.

Petty Theft Report—10:02 a.m.—Annandale Drive—A citizen called police on behalf of a Leisure World resident, who advised his adult tricycle was taken during the night. Report taken.
Welfare Check—10:18 p.m.—El Dorado Drive—A neighbor reported a man and a woman sleeping on a resident’s front porch. Police unit 206 determined the residents were sleeping on their own porch.
