The California Coastal Commission today approved the conditions that will allow the Ocean Place Development Project to go forward. The project will include overnight accomodations on four lots that were originally slated for residential housing. The Ocean Place development will include residential houses on land currently owned by the Bay City Partners that once belonged to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
Accorcing to Seal Beach Mayor Ellery Deaton, the accommodations will be small cottages similar to a corss between the Seal Beach Inn and Gardens and the historic Anaheim Landing.
The commission also approved a park that was part of the property development. Coastal Commission staff had recommended a park open 24/7, but the commissioners instead approved a park that will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily.
“Hopefully we can break ground soon,” Deaton said.
