Aug. 5 Seal Beach Planning Commission preview

SB Planners to look at clinic expansion, porch encroachment

A medical clinic expansion and a porch encroachment into the front yard will be on next week’s Planning Commission agenda.

The Seal Beach Planning Commission has two public hearings scheduled for Monday, Aug. 5.

Planners will consider a request for a conditional use permit to expand a medical service clinic in the service commercial zone, according to a legal notice published in the July 25 print edition of the Sun. The clinic is located on Seal Beach Boulevard.

On that same night, planners will hold another public hearing to consider a request for a minor use permit to allow the encroachment of a port of a proposed single-family residence into the front setback, according to another legal notice published in the July 25 Sun.

According to the minor use permit hearing notice, the encroachment exceeds 50% of the front building width in the residential high density zone. The property in question is located on Sixth Street.

According to both notices, any legal challenges to these applications may be limited to issues raised at the public hearings.

The hearings will be held in the Council Chambers on Eighth Street.

The meeting will start at 7 p.m. It is not known when the hearings will be held because the agenda for the Planning Commission meeting had not been made public as of editorial deadline.
