St. Hedwig Catholic School girls volleyball team captures crown

St. Hedwig Catholic School’s varsity volleyball team recently won the Queen of Court Crown, a competition that put the middle school against teams from 22 high schools.

The Annual Queen of Court is sponsored by Foothill High School, and is in its seventh year.  St. Hedwig is the only middle school invited to this event that is comprised of top high school teams. In the Frosh-Soph division, St. Hedwig’s varsity team (consisting of seventh and eighth graders) was one of 23 teams that competed for the “Top Spot.”  This is the first time St. Hedwig’s has won the coveted Crown, after coming so close two years ago, when they came in second.  This year St. Hedwig’s was undefeated with a 7-0 record.

Coach Jack Senske recognized the girls’ hard work. “Yes, it was great that we won, but it was especially sweet because it was a team effort where everyone contributed,” Senske said. “You girls won the hearts of the crowd with your enthusiasm and sheer joy of playing.”
