Hi Seal Beach!
As a reminder, this article is intended not only to provide information, discuss laws, and answer questions but also to give the community a glimpse into the inner workings of the Seal Beach Police Department. Much like we share information with each other during our actual shift briefings, we’re back this week to introduce two new employees.
The Seal Beach Police Department has hired two new Police Aides. Police Aides can fill a variety of roles at the PD. They can be assigned to the Records Bureau, Traffic Bureau, Detention Center, or Animal Control (or some combination of all of those).
Our goal is to cross-train our Police Aides and Senior Community Services Officers to work in all of these areas so that they can better serve the community and gain valuable experience working in many aspects of policing. Police Aides work around 30 hours per week, and many are going to school and working toward full-time jobs such as police officers or crime analysts.
Please join me in welcoming our newest Police Aides, Nicole Almeida and Paul Amerine.
Nicole Alameida was a Police Explorer for the Westminster Police Department for about 2 years where she participated in various ride-alongs, and assisted with events such as National Night Out, Run Seal Beach and the annual Orange County Fair. Nicolette played volleyball for 7 years and is currently a freshman at Irvine Valley College, in the Administration of Justice Program. In her free time, she likes to explore new places to eat and go to the beach for some snorkeling and surfing. She aspires to one day be a police officer and a homicide detective.
Paul was born and raised in Long Beach and graduated from the University of Vermont, receiving his degree in History along with completing a post-grad certificate from Cal State Fullerton in Crime and Intelligence Analysis. He is also an active member of the International Association of Crime Analysts. Paul has previous experience in teaching middle school physical education and providing security for Southern California Edison. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, tinkering with tech, and hanging out with his dogs, Rocky and Bella. He feels blessed and grateful to work in Seal Beach.
