This week’s Crime Log is based primarily on two documents provided by the Seal Beach Police Department, a detailed version of the log for Jan. 11 to Jan. 12, and a summary log for Feb. 9 to 16. Summary logs provide no details.

IN SEAL BEACH

Tuesday, January 11

• Fight (Priority 2)—1:02 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—Two men were reported fighting in a place of business. As of 1:02 p.m., the reporting person told police that they were in the girls clothing section. As of 1:03 p.m., police were told the fight was in the kids department. Employees tried to break up the fight. No weapons were seen. As of 1:04 p.m., one of the men reportedly threw keys at the other man. He apparently missed. As of 1:24 p.m., police contacted and counseled the two parties. They were interviewed in the field.

• Extra Patrol Checks Requested (Priority 4)—11:34 a.m.—Main Street and Ocean Avenue—Police received a request for extra patrol checks because of an ongoing issue with pedestrians walking across the street against the green light. This was reportedly creating a traffic hazard for cars going through the light.

• Grand Theft (Priority 1)—11:35 a.m.—Pacific Coast Highway—A customer reported an apparent crime in progress. As of 11:37 am., two employees in uniforms were chasing the suspect. Loss: cognac. The value of the stolen property was blacked out in the log. As of 11: 38 a.m., the suspect was seen traveling on Bolsa.

As of 12:08 p.m., police had a suspect in custody. Police arrested Shanta McCoy on suspicion of burglary and suspicion of conspiracy.

• Animal Welfare Check (Priority 3)—3:45 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard and Westminster Avenue—A man was seen kicking what appeared to be his dog and throwing rocks in the dog’s face. Police were unable to locate the man.

• Transient (Priority 3)—4:55 p.m.—Westminster Avenue—The reporting person told police that a man was yelling at people and swinging his arms.

As of 5:09 p.m., police had counseled the man about his behavior and he was leaving the area.

Thursday, February 10

• Arrest—Westminster Avenue and Apollo Court Drive—Police arrested Shadrach James Oard on suspicion of misdemeanor possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia.

• Arrest—Pacific Coast Highway and First Street—Police arrested Michael Richard Miller on suspicion of felony forgery: sign of another or fictitious person.

• Grand Theft, Bicycles—First Street—The crime apparently occurred between 3 and 3:04 p.m., Jan. 24. The crime was reported Feb. 10. Loss: $2,055.

• Obtain Money, etc., by False Pretenses—El Dorado Drive—The crime apparently occurred between 5 and 7:40 p.m., of the day on which the crime was reported. Loss: $2,295.

• Forgery: False Checks/Records/Certificates, Etc.—Pacific Coast Highway and First Street—The crime apparently occurred between 9:45 and 10:22 p.m., of the day on which the crime was reported. Amount of loss, if any, was not provided in the source document.

Friday, February 11

• Theft From Motor Vehicle—N. Gate Road— The crime apparently occurred between 16:30 p.m., Feb. 10, and 7:45 a.m., Feb. 11. The crime was reported Feb. 11. Loss: $10,000.

Saturday, February 12

• Arrest—Elder Avenue—Police arrested Maugrisio Pedro Barajas on suspicion of misdemeanor battery.

• Arrest—Westminster Avenue and Seal Beach Boulevard—Police arrested Anderson Dodanim Del Cid Marroquin on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI alcohol.

Sunday, February 13

• Arrest—Seal Beach Boulevard—Police arrested Angel Asana on suspicion of misdemeanor providing false identification to a specific peace officer.

• Tampering With Vehicle—Old Ranch Road—The crime was apparently reported at 4:13 p.m.

• Petty Theft From Motor Vehicle—Seal Beach Boulevard—The crime was apparently reported at 4:24 p.m. Loss: $301.

Monday, February 14

• Arrest—Seal Beach Boulevard and Golden Rain—Police arrested Nimra Mariam Coronado on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI alcohol.

• Identity Theft, Get Credit, Etc., Other’s ID—Golden Rain Road—The crime was apparently reported at 1:58 p.m.

Tuesday, February 15

• Arrest—First Street—Police arrested Charles David Jilly on suspicion of felony inflicting injury on spouse/cohabitant/etc.

• Petty Theft From Vehicle—Seal Beach Boulevard—The crime apparently occurred at 8:52 p.m., Feb. 14. The crime was reported Feb. 15. Loss: $75.

• Attempted Murder—Hands, Feet, Fists, Ect.–First Street—The crime apparently occurred between 4:15 and 10:09 a.m., Feb. 15.

• Petty Theft, Motor Vehicle Parts—Seal Beach Boulevard—The crime apparently occurred between 11 a.m., and 3:30 p.m., Feb. 14. The crime was reported Feb. 15. Loss: $400.
