Transient (Priority 3)–9:23 a.m.–Marina Drive (Old Town)–The reporting person said an apparently transient man with a bicycle was loitering in front of the businesses again. The reporting person, relaying second hand information from a guest, said he had been urinating. As of 9:37 a.m., police contacted the individual. At the request of employees at the location, he was advised not to return.
Petty Theft (Priority 2)–7:33 p.m.–Pacific Coast Highway (Old Town)–A man had a wad of money. The reporting person run up a sale for several $20 and $30 Lotto scratchers. The reporting person handed them to the man. The man ran out. He was apparently seen going toward 12th Street.
Welfare Check (Priority 2)–8:05 p.m.–Fifth Street (Old Town)–The reporting person said a man who rides from Huntington Beach left at 5:15 p.m., and was not answering his phone. Police tried two numbers for him. The calls went to voicemail. As of 8:22 p.m., a police unit contacted a man. It turned out the man in question had lost his cell phone.

Welfare Check (Priority 3)–9:14 a.m.–Main Street (Old Town)==The reporting person said a transient was sleeping in the parking lot. The reporting person asked him to move. As of 9:15 a.m., there was some movement but the reporting person was still concerned and needed him to leave as employees were showing up for work. As of 9:37 a.m., the transient man had left the area.
Disturbing Juveniles (Priority 3)–1:06 p.m.–10th Street (Old Town)–Two or three juveniles, boys, were on skateboards. The reporting person wanted them to leave.
Parking Complaint (Priority 4)–1:29 p.m.–Main Street (Old Town)–The reporting person said an Amazon truck was not moving and was blocking traffic. It was gone when police arrived.
Grand Theft Report (Priority 3)–2:48 p.m.–Hazelnut Avenue—The reporting person sent his daughter a check and an unknown person cashed it.

Pedestrian Check (Priority 3)–6:55 am.–Ocean Avenue (Old Town)==Police contacted an unspecified number of transients under the Seal Beach Pier. The transients were offered services. One left.
Family Disturbance (Priority 2)–11:09 a.m.–Seal Beach Boulevard—A man and a woman were having a verbal argument in a parking lot. Police were unable to locate them.
Disturbing Individual (Priority 2)–11:20 a.m.–Main Street (Old Town)–A woman was yelling at the reporting person and the reporting person’s dog. No weapons were seen. Police spoke with the other person. The woman in question was upset that the reporting person had a dog inside the Post Office. Both parties were counseled.
Suspicious Person (Priority 2)–8:50 p.m.–Marina Drive (Old Town)–A man jumped in front of the reporting person’s truck and wouldn’t move. The man put his hands on the truck’s hood and tried to open the driver’s side door. As of 9:04 p.m., the reporting person told police he believed the man was drunk. Police found a man who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and having a reaction to medications. His family was present at the location and they took possession of him.
Brandishing a Weapon (Priority 3)–Pacific Coast Highway and Main—A man in a car brandished a small black semi-automatic handgun at the reporting person and the reporting person’s friends. The suspect yelled at him, but the reporting person didn’t understand what he said. The reporting person, who was also in a car, followed the suspect to Long Beach but lost him at Anaheim and PCH. Report taken.

Transient (Priority 3)–12:51 p.m.–10th Street (Old Town)–Transients were in the alley. The reporting person requested they leave. The reporting person said they had been present on Tuesday, Dec. 28. Police provided the transients with bus passes.
Hail-By-Citizen (Priority 3)–2:11 p.m.–Eighth Street (Old Town)–Police counseled a disgruntled driver on how to handle parking tickets and update his registration.
Person Down (Priority 1)–6:48 p.m.–Central Avenue and 10th Street (Old Town)–A man was reportedly in the gutter at the location. As of 6:52 p.m., the Orange County Fire Authority reported that he left, going into an alley. As of 6:56 p.m., police contacted a man who apparently fit the description. As of 7:09 p.m., police had arrested Austin Charles Raban on suspicion of public intoxication.

Arrest (Priority 3)–10:17 a.m.–Pacific Coast Highway (Old Town)–A man at the table had refused to leave for the past two hours. According to the reporting person, he had thrown trash everywhere. Police arrested Kevin Ray Saunders on suspicion of public intoxication.
Welfare Check (Priority 2)–4:39 p.m.–Seal Beach Boulevard and Golden Rain Road—The reporting person said a woman was walking southbound in lanes of traffic. The reporting person tried to help bu the woman kept walking away. She was gone when police arrived.
Car Burglary (Priority 2)–8:40 p.m.–Third Street (Old Town)–The reporting person caught someone trying to break into her car. She described him as appearing to be Hispanic, in his mid-30s, wearing a white t-shirt and dark shorts.

Transient (Priority 3)–12:32 a.m.–Fifth Street (Old Town)–A transient woman was on a couch on the reporting person’s front porch. She was yelling. As of 12:45 a.m., police had contacted her. She refused services. According to the disposition column in the log, she was advised/warned/counseled about her behavior.
DUI Report (Priority 2)–1:20 a.m.–First Street—A female who had been drinking got into a car. According to the reporting person, she was last seen going southbound on First Street. As of 1:33 a.m., police found the car in the southbound lanes on First Street. It was unoccupied. As of 1:39 a.m., police released the car to a sober driver.
Transient (Priority 3)–2:39 p.m.–Seal Beach Boulevard and Heron Point–(the Hill)–A man wearing dark clothing was lying on the sidewalk. Police interviewed him in the field.
Fireworks (Priority 4)–10:11 p.m.–10th Street (Old Town)–This was a re-opened incident. Several individuals were reportedly setting off fireworks in a parking lot. As of 11:28 p.m., police re-contacted the partiers and shut down the party. Police were unable to locate fireworks.

Transient (Priority 3)–1:22 p.m.–Pacific Coast Highway—According to the reporting person, a man in the produce area had returned three times and was refusing to leave. As of 1:33 p.m., he had made a purchase and was leaving.
Person Down (Priority 1)–1:36 p.m.–Balboa Drive and Coastline Drive (the Hill)==According to the reporting person, a man appeared to have passed out in his car. The brake lights were on. The police notified paramedics. As of 1:38 p.m., the reporting person was leaving the area. As of 1:39 p.m., according to the log, the man in the car was breathing but not responding. As of 1:40 p.m., the man got out of the car. It turned out the driver had fallen asleep.
Reckless Driver (Priority 2)–12:27 p.m.–Avalon Drive (the Hill)–An individual was riding a motorcycle in the park. The motorcyclist was gone when police arrived.
Disturbing Individuals (Priority 2)–4:10 p.m.–Pacific Coast Highway (Old Town)–Two individuals who were described in the log as transients were reportedly harassing customers at the location. Police contacted the two. As of 4:23 p.m., they were both sent on their way.
Disturbing Individual (Priority 2)–7:07 p.m.–Pacific Coast Highway—A woman in a chair by the pharmacy was screaming. The reporting person asked her to leave, but she refused. Police escorted her out of the business and advised her against trespassing.
Suspicious Person (Priority 2)–9:14 p.m.–Catalina Avenue (the Hill)–The reporting person said a man was going from car-to-car, trying the door handles. The reporting person followed him. The reporting person believed the man knew the reporting person was following him. Police contacted both the reporting person and the man in question. Police interviewed the suspicious person in the field.
Brandishing a Weapon (Priority 1)–9:18 a.m.–Pacific Coast Highway and Seal Beach Boulevard—The reporting person advised that a man appeared to be carrying a shotgun. The reporting person said the man was alone; no one was around him. As of 9:22 a.m., according to the log, he had something sticking out of his jacket. As of 9:23 a.m., police were shutting down the southbound side of Pacific Coast Highway. Thirty-seven seconds later, police detained the man in question. As of 9:24 a.m., law enforcement services were no longer required. The man did not have a shotgun. He had in his possession items of garbage that he had picked up along the way.
