Small plane landing at Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach

A small single-engine aircraft made an emergency landing aboard Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach at approximately 8:50, Tuesday morning, Dec. 9.

The Cessna 400 landed safely in an empty field, with no injuries to the plane’s two occupants.  There was no fire or fuel spill following the landing.

According to a statement issued by the base, an initial interview with the pilot indicated that the plane took off from Montgomery Field in San Diego County and was trying to reach Long Beach Airport when it developed engine trouble.

Naval weapons station emergency personnel responded to the scene and will coordinate with the Federal Aviation Administration as the incident is investigated.
