Stylish Solutions: Crazy hair knots and how to deal with them

Hi Lisa,

I was wondering if you could recommend something for my children.

I have twins and they are 3 years old. They are two wonderful girls and they both have medium length curly hair and I really want to keep it long.

However, combing it through is a nightmare. I always condition it, comb it through and dry it.

Often when they wake up in the morning, the bed-head tangles are worse than ever.

Please help the morning routine of getting ready for our day, as it is tearful and getting longer. Is there anything you would recommend for me to use?

Dear Linda,

We all know children need special care. Their hair and skin are no exception.

There is a line of products that is formulated for safe gentle cleansing every time you shampoo and condition your little ones’ hair.

It is by L’Oreal, and is called “L’Oreal Kids” and it’s a children’s range of shampoos and conditioners.

It is also a detangler.

The range has wonderful fruity smells such as Strawberry Smoothie, Orange Mango, Watermelon and a detangler called “Tangle Tamer” that has a sweet pear scent.

It’s a spray-on and its conditioning formula detangles any type of hair.

You can use it on dry or wet hair and it will tackle and tame bed head or the craziest knots.

The shampoos and conditioners are absolutely tear-free, which is important.

Also, the containers are fun and easy for your little ones to hold and they are shaped like fish.

Who knows? These products could become their favorite bath toys.

Kind Regards,

Lisa

Gray too drab or not?

Dear Lisa,

Could you give me some advice?

My family and friends all think that my gray hair really ages me. At the present time I have around 60 percent gray hair.

I started going gray when I was in my 30s and I am 50-something now.

However, I quite like it, although it does get somewhat yellow looking around the front.

So my family and I have discussed my hair color in detail. I said I was going to write to you to ask for a professional’s opinion?

Thank you for your help,

Mary Quinn

Hi Mary,

You know, gray hair does not have to age you if you keep the color vibrant and fresh looking.

With gray hair it’s the yellow tones that can appear to actually age you.

They can also dull one’s skin tone. So use products that contain shine enhancers and ultra violet light filters.

On hair that is more than 50 percent gray use a shampoo that has a blue or violet undertone to neutralize the yellow.

If yellow tones still cling to your hair as it tends to on 100 percent grey/white hair, I would recommend coloring your hair a light shade of blonde to take the aging effect away.

I actually have a couple of clients for whom we blend very fine lighter highlights through the grey hair. It gives them a very natural look and the commitment is minimal.

People usually have it done two to three times per year, as it gives a fresh look from the hair and it proves that gray hair does not have to age you by 10 years. This advice is also good for men that have gray hair.

We all want to look as good as we can for as long as we can.

Thank you for question,

Lisa
