Hi Lisa,Â
I am 56 years old and to date still have pretty thick hair.
However, I have noticed a little thinning on top over the past six months when I shampoo my hair.
Of course, I am not happy about this.
Is there anything on the market that is not really expensive that I could use to help my issue?
Paul Snowdon
Seal Beach
Dear Paul,
Yes. I have a good product that is well priced and can be purchased in most salons or beauty supply stores and this product is called Nioxin.
There are many systems that you can purchase and the one I would recommend is the BioAmp, which adds thickness and strength to hair.
Transactive Delivery System adds essential nutrients onto the scalp, which will improve the appearance of thinning hair and creates a base for fuller, healthier hair.
It comes in three steps.
First, use the Nioxin cleanser. This removes residue and promotes a healthy scalp. It also provides nourishing vitamins, proteins and amino acids.
Then apply the Nioxin scalp therapy. This has soothing essential oils and antioxidants. This is like a conditioner, but for your hair and scalp.
Finally, the Nioxin scalp treatment. This is a daily leave-in-the-scalp treatment that has essential botanicals nutrients, antioxidants and vitamins for your hair and scalp.
One final product from this range is the Follicle Booster.
This product is for excessively thinning areas or a low-density hairline.
Follicle Booster is an intensive treatment vitamin enriched leave-in scalp treatment that exfoliates dead skin cells and transports advanced nourishment to your hair.
You should use Follicle Booster twice daily, in the morning and evening.
Apply Follicle Booster directly onto the scalp.
Distribute it with your fingertips to areas of excessive thinning and around the hairline again as a leave-in treatment.
If you follow this and use the treatment daily, you will find that it will certainly help your problem and your scalp and hair will feel really good with all the added vitamins that this product provides.
You may wonder how long you should use these products.
The answer is indefinitely.
The idea is to maintain an optimum scalp and to help improve the appearance of fine or thinning hair. Here is how I would use the system I have recommended:
• Cleanser
• Scalp therapy (conditioner)
• Follicle Booster
• Scalp treatment
Nioxin is a scalp and hair regimen designed to improve the scalp environment and improve the appearance of fine or thin looking hair.
It is not a hair loss product, so I would start with Nioxin and see how you get on.
Good Luck,
Lisa
How to get those curls to shine
Dear Lisa,
I have curly thick hair and I was wondering what shine spray would you use on my hair as it lacks shine and I almost always leave it curly?
Kathleen Norton
Seal Beach
Hi, Kathleen
There is a great product from the Its A 10 group. It’s called Miracle Shine Spray.
Here are some things that I know you will love about it for your hair:
• Weightless shine
• Softens Course hair
• Improves elasticity
• Antioxidant
• Environmental protection
• Anti-humidity and minimizes frizz
• Thermal protection
• Seals and protects hair and lastly locks in moisture
I use this product daily and its also great as a second day styler.
Again, most beauty supply outlets carry this product and it really is good on curly or straight hair.
Thanks, Lisa
