Looking to get healthy this year? Then look no further than the 5th Annual Seal Beach “Be More Healthy” Expo presented by the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce, the city of Seal Beach and the Seal Beach Lions Club with generous support from the business community from  Dendreon (“Targeting Cancer, Transforming Lives”) with their 2nd annual Title Sponsorship and the Community Sponsorship of the Center for Family Medicine, Seal Beach Family Medicine and Seal Beach Urgent Care.

Chairman Diana Bean, of Take Shape for Life, said, “Six months ago, my husband Gary and I moved to this beautiful community of Seal Beach.

We love to get involved in the community in which we live, so becoming a member of the Seal Beach Chamber and Seal Beach Lions were the first steps to take.

“What we found was a vacancy in the chairmanship for the Chamber’s Health and Fitness Expo.  During our former residence in Lodi, California, we were instrumental in numerous Health Expos, so immediately volunteering to take on this year’s health fair was a natural for us.”

As certified health coaches with Take Shape for Life, the Bean’s business, and a passion for helping create health in the community, they said they are excited to have this opportunity to serve the citizens of Seal Beach in a ‘be more healthy’ capacity.

“Relocating the fair from the Rossmoor Center to the Pier in Old Town seemed a logical move for what could be more heathy than a day at the beach,” Bean said. “And very importantly, to benefit our senior citizens, we are pleased to be  negotiating for a shuttle service to the expo from Leisure World.”

This year’s expo is set to be better than ever with free screening services by Western University of Healthy Sciences, College of Pharmacy. Screening will include blood pressure, blood glucose, BMI, along providing free information on nutrition, heart health, heartburn, diabetes, medication counseling and to name a few.

Teaming up with the local USC Alumni Club, The Food Finders Food Drive Van will be at the Fair, collecting food for those in need, so please bring canned and boxed, non-perishable food to donate.

The Seal Beach Chamber has also partnered with the Lions Club who will be hosting a hearing and eye van and stroke screenings will be provided by SCAN.

Families and seniors are all welcomed to enjoy the many zones offered such as the eco, kids and speaker zones along with demonstrations, dance and exercise areas.

If you’re lucky, you also get a glimpse of the new Miss Seal Beach, Miss Junior Seal Beach and their courts.

Participating vendors include the Citizens Emergency Response Team with their mobile command center, Edison with their mobile energy unit, Non-Surgical Spine Care Center, Anytime Fitness, Beach Fire Bootcamp, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Whole Body Vibe, Smith Upper Cervical Chiropractic Health Care, Shohet Ear Associates, Long Beach Memorial & Miller’s Children’s Hospital, Home Instead Senior Care,  Caremore Health Plan, Vida Organic Wellness, Take Shape for Life, OC Vitality Acupuncture, Nu Skin, Health & Life Plans 4 less, Seal Beach Animal Care Center, State Farm, and many others, all with information for a healthier and better life for you.
