Eagle Scout candidate takes on project at Grace Church

There will be the banging of hammers and nails, saws will buzz and local Boy Scouts and volunteers will build with a fervor behind Grace Community Church of Seal Beach on Saturday, June 16.

Despite his first name, Noah Green, who will be leading the project, will not be building an ark. And as far as we know, this seaside town is not expecting a major flood of Biblical proportions.

No, Green, an Eagle Scout candidate, has elected to do his Eagle Scout project in Seal Beach.

He has developed and will be driving an effort to erect a much-needed storage building for the church.

“I wanted to help a church that does so much for this community,” Green said. “Through hard times, and fun times and events such as the huge Vacation Bible School event held at Grace every summer, storage is always an issue.”

Noah has received great support from Grace Pastors Steve Williams, and Bob Wriedt, who both earned their Eagle Scout rank.  Rick Travis, a Scout Master who also attends Grace Community Church, along with others in scouting has also shown his support.

Green is the son of Ted and Patti Green.

Boy Scout Troop 4 of Westminster, which is Noah’s troop, is helping with the project. He also has had great support from Lowe’s Huntington Beach.

“I could not have done this project without all the help from Lowe’s, they have really come through for me,” he said.

It has taken over a year to plan the project, and raise the necessary funds, but the outcome for the church will be appreciated. Green will receive the highest honor in scouting, becoming an Eagle Scout, which is an accomplishment achieved by only one in 20 scouts.

If you wish to cheer the Scout on, or drop by with a cold soda for the volunteer workers, they will be at the back of Grace Community Church in Seal Beach, on Saturday, June 16.
