Navy base to take part in Exercise Citadel Rumble 2012

Personnel from Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach will take part in Exercise Citadel Rumble 2012 from Aug. 7-9.

The exercise is designed to provide a focused training environment for commands to exercise damage assessment, evacuation, personnel accountability, disaster preparedness, recovery, and consequence management plans and procedures.  It will help prepare naval installations to respond to natural disasters while maintaining the ability to operate even under the most adverse conditions.

Exercise Citadel Rumble 2012 will be conducted on naval bases throughout the continental United States.  At Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, exercise scenarios will focus on reactions to a major regional earthquake.

Area residents may see increased emergency response activity associated with the exercise.  The installation’s “Giant Voice” mass notification loudspeaker system may also be used.  Civilian boat access to Anaheim Bay is currently scheduled to remain open during the event.  Updates will be posted on the command’s Facebook page throughout the exercise.
