Crews are scheduled to demolish the west half of the Seal Beach Boulevard bridge overnight Friday, Sept. 21, which will require that Seal Beach Boulevard be closed between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. on Friday and between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. on Saturday.
The closure was set to begin at 10 p.m. Friday and last through 5 a.m. Monday but construction crews have been able to complete the necessary work without requiring the additional closure.
Crews will close the southbound I-405 Friday night from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. between I-605 and SR-22. On Saturday, the northbound I-405 freeway will be closed from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. from SR-22 to I-605.
A scheduled closure of the connector between the northbound San Diego Freeway (I-405) and northbound San Gabriel River Freeway (I-605) has been cancelled for this weekend.
The $277 million West County Connectors project will improve traffic flow by directly connecting carpool lanes on I-405, I-605 and SR-22. In addition, a second carpool lane will be constructed on I-405 between SR-22 and I-605.
