Toys For Tots goes on at Keller Williams

Santa Claus recently stopped by Keller Williams Realty Los Alamitos to help the Marines drop off boxes for the Toys For Tots collection drive.

For the ninth consecutive year, agents at Keller Williams Los Alamitos will be collecting toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Toys For Tots Program in their effort to help needy children in the local area have a grand holiday.

Boxes are located at the office located at 10900 Los Alamitos Blvd. behind Hof’s Hut restaurant and toys can be dropped off there  until December 21st.

“The care and support that the community has shown in past years has been wonderful,” said Elaine Armogida, the team leader at Keller Williams Realty Los Alamitos.

“We are so excited to once again be a part of this Christmas tradition,” Armogida said. “The agents at our office love to give back to the community that supports them throughout the year.”

Agents will be walking flyers alerting the community that they will pick up toys if needed.

“I will be notifying the homes by delivering flyers letting the residents know when I will be collecting the toys,” said Richard Daskam, coordinator of this year’s drive. “Even my daughters want to get involved and are very excited about collecting toys to help needy children.”

“We also have boxes at our office to collect the toys,” said Daskam.

“The objective of Toys For Tots is to help needy children experience the joy of Christmas and to play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources-our children,” said Daskam. “The goal is to unite all members of the local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign and to contribute to better communities in the future.”

“It is just amazing how people are able to give so much to those who have so little,” said Daskam.

Toys For Tots started in 1947 when Major Bill Hendricks, with support of members of his Los Angeles Marine Corps Reserve unit, collected and distributed 5,000 toys to needy children.

The program was so successful that in 1948, the Marine Corps adopted it and expanded it nationwide as the U.S. Marine Corps Toys For Tots Program.

Drop off toys for this year’s drive at 10900 Los Alamitos Blvd (behind Hof’s Hut) or call (562) 626-8600.
