The Seal Beach Lions Club is proud to announce parade enhancements and improvements for this year’s most spectacular event. It is the 36th annual event, which takes place from Ocean to Pacific Coast Highway down the three blocks of Main Street on December 5th, at 7 pm. The event sold out this week, and has nearly 110 entries. There are still sponsorship entries available.
Based on a grant from Run Seal Beach, the Christmas Parade will have improved lighting in several sections of Main Street and enhanced sound. These are largely due to the relentless pursuit of excellence by parade Chairman Scott Newton and Run Seal Beach Director Marc Loopesko.
With the new street lighting on Main Street, which is conducive to a romantic stroll or promenade in the evening, an even more powerful light set would be needed. Chairman Newton said, “Marc and I walked the parade route at night and it was clear that the new lights were great, and we needed more intense light to truly showcase the parade.”
Marc said, “Run Seal Beach is really proud to be a long term sponsor for the Parade. By providing lights, we can help make the recreational experience of the parade truly exceptional. Also, we will likely be able to expand the sound coverage in all of the key intersections – Main & Ocean, Main & Central and Main & Electric.”
A diverse panel drawn from the PR and announcer teams will again judge the competition categories for this year. With the theme of “Seal Beach Winter Wonderland,” emphasis is placed on truly capturing the ideas of winter for our community – be it a dream like expression, or something more literal.
The categories are: Best in Show, Judge’s Choice, People’s Choice, Best Expression of Theme and the Most Entertaining & Fun. Once more Jo Dawson and Seth Eaker will coordinate the process of judging, the selection of judges and the awarding of the trophies.
Winning entries will be announced at the Breakfast with Santa event hosted by the City on Saturday Dec. 13.
