Council names Stormwater Committee members

The City Council on Monday, June 24, appointed the members of the Citizen-Council Stormwater Advisory Ad-Hoc Committee. The committee was originally created in April of this year. (See “Council creates stormwater committee,” at sunnews.org.)

The members are: 

• Warren Stewart (appointed by District One Council Member Joe Kalmick).

• Lorette Murphree (appointed by District Three Councilwoman/Mayor Pro Tem Lisa Landau).

• Patty Senecal (appointed by District Councilman Nathan Steele).

• Keith Crafton (appointed by District Two Council Member Tom Moore).

• James Biery (appointed by District Four Council Member Mayor Schelly Sustarsic).

• Sustarsic, representing the council.

• Landau, representing the council.

• City Manager Jill Ingram or her designee

Member backgrounds

The staff report included the Boards-Committees-Commissions applications of each of the citizen members.

• Stewart lives in District One. “I have a BS and MS in civil/structural engineering & 50 years of engineering experience on a variety of projects for local, state, and federal agencies, private utilities and institutional clients, including over 35 years managing a variety of port & harbor, transportation, and other infrastructure projects,” Stewart wrote. “Many projects have a stormwater component.” 

• Murphree lives in District Three. “B.A. Northwestern University. 25 years executive management level skills in residential and commercial real estate,” Murphree wrote.

• Senecal lives in District Four. “I have a background in budgeting, infrastructure and storm water runoff compliance. I have a business and planning background with project management,” Senecal wrote.

• Crafton lives in District Four. “Responsible for Storm Water Compliance for all school districts in Los Angeles County while employed at the Los Angeles County Office of Education,” Crafton wrote.

• Biery lives in District Four. “B.S. Civil Engineering, M.S. Civil Engineering/Hydraulics, MPA/Public Administration. Registered, professional civil engineer for 48 years. 30 years experience as Public Works Director/City Engineer at the cities of Signal Hill, South Gate and Buena Park,” Biery wrote.
